who we are
For more than 90 years, Girl Scouts have taken an active role in American culture. Girl Scouts past and present exhibit accomplishments in leadership, service and professionalism, all of which continues to make a lasting impression in history.
Only two hours away from Savannah, Georgia, the birthplace of Girl Scout founder, Juliette (Daisy) Gordon Low, the Girl Scout Council of the Congaree Area, Inc. is nestled in the heart of South Carolina. In keeping with many of the values set forth by Daisy in 1912, the Congaree Council offers girls an environment for discovering their full potential.
The Girl Scout Council of the Congaree Area, Inc. was chartered
in 1944 by Girl Scouts of the United States of America (GSUSA),
and serves all girls ages 5-17 in Richland, Lexington, Saluda,
Sumter, Newberry, Kershaw, Lancaster and Fairfield counties,
as well as the Town of Great Falls.
Locally, the Girl Scout Council of the Congaree Area, Inc. serves
approximately 4,600 girl members and nearly 2,100 adult members
in central South Carolina. With a team of dedicated adult volunteers
and parents, along with the committed efforts of the Board of
Directors and staff, this council provides a safe environment
where girls can discover the fun, friendship and power of girls
together.
