Adult
volunteers are the backbone of the Girl Scout Movement. Girl
Scouting is uniquely based on the strength of girl-adult partnerships.
The rewards of being an adult volunteer are both direct and
indirect. Adult volunteers say they receive rewards that they
would not typically get in their daily lives rewards that
offer them the ability to give back, make a difference in a
girl's life, contribute to the community, manage programs and
events and facilitate training sessions, all of which have worthwhile
benefits in other parts of their life. Even more, volunteering
also provide adults with an opportunity to participate in activities
outside of their normal day-to-day responsibilities, while offering
them a chance to form friendships with other adults who share
some of the same interests.
Once
you sign up to become a Girl Scout volunteer, you will join
other adults who embrace one common purpose - the commitment
of addressing the needs of an entire generation of girls - one
girl at a time.
Whether
you choose to become a troop leader or wish to volunteer for
a short period of time, Girl Scouting has a place just for you.
There are so many different volunteer opportunities available
to suit your talents, and we welcome you to join Girl Scouting
and explore all of the endless possibilities. It does not matter
if you were never a Girl Scout yourself, and you certainly do
not have to be a mother to lend your time. Girl Scout volunteers
come from all backgrounds - even men are welcomed. And for college
students, what better way to fulfill your community service
requirements, than to become a volunteer?
When
you volunteer with the Girl Scout Council of the Congaree Area,
Inc., you will receive the guidance, training and leadership
to help you be successful in your new role. Girl Scouting provides
an extensive support network on three levels - national, council-wide
and service unit - to coach you through your new position with
all of the necessary tools for success.
