volunteer recognition

Adult volunteers are a major component of the Girl Scout Movement. Their commitment and dedication to inspiring girls is invaluable and greatly supports our ability to successfully serve our girl membership. For these reasons, it is important that we recognize and express our appreciation for the selfless contributions of our volunteers.

When recognizing a volunteer, be sure to select the appropriate award. Award presentations should be made while the volunteer is actively involved in Girl Scouting and should never be a parting gift. Each Service Unit's Recognition Chair should ensure that all persons deserving an award are recognized in an appropriate and timely manner.

Parents and other volunteers' assistance is needed in nominating volunteers for the following awards:

  • Outstanding Volunteer Award - for a volunteer in a position other than leader who is performing at a level that exceeds expectations - complete application includes a nomination form and three endorsements (see Forms). Deadline for nominations is March 30th.
  • Outstanding Leader Award - for a troop/group leader or assistant leader for outstanding performance in working with girls - complete application includes a nomination form and three endorsements (see Forms). Deadline for nominations is March 30th.

A detailed adult recognition plan is available and can be found in GuidePost , a council produced publication. Click here to access adult recognition nomination forms.
