volunteer selection & placement
In Girl Scouting, it is important that we provide girls with a fun and safe environment where they can build skills for success. We place only the very best adults in positions to work with girls. The Girl Scout Council of the Congaree Area, Inc. follows a formal Volunteer Management Policies & Procedures process to ensure the selection and placement of qualified adults.
The following are components of Volunteer Management Policies & Procedures:

Placement
Policy:
Every
attempt will be made to place operational volunteers in positions
that meet both their needs and the needs of the Girl Scout Council
of the Congaree Area, Inc.
Procedure:
Individuals not
placed in a position for which they applied may be recommended
for other positions and they may request reassignment.
Policy:
Appointment to a
volunteer position is contingent upon completion and review
of a volunteer application, sexual offender registry check,
criminal background check and references.
Volunteer Selection and Appointment
Policy:
Every adult volunteer shall be
selected on the basis of interest, ability
to perform the job and agreement to participate in training.
Placement will be made based upon Council Volunteer Management
Policies & Procedures. The Girl Scout Council of the Congaree
Area, Inc., maintains the
right to decline appointment.
Policy:
Operational volunteers shall
be appointed for a term not to exceed one year.
Procedures:
Candidate completes Adult
Volunteer Application Form.
References listed on the Adult Volunteer Application
are checked and reference forms are completed. Three references
must be secured.
Criminal background check and sex offender registry
check are processed.
Go through an interview conducted by council
staff or service unit administrative volunteer..
Applicant completes the appropriate volunteer
position letter of appointment agreement and the "Commitment
to Professionalism" statement.
Letter of appointment issued for each operational
volunteer for a term not to exceed one year by the person authorized
to make the appointment.
Operational volunteer new to a position takes
training required for the position to which appointed, according
to the requirements set forth in the position description.
